The Story of an Epic Waterman
“There hasn’t been a more popular contest winner - anywhere - than Bertish at Mavericks in 2010. The 38-year-old South African is one of the most stoked, enthusiastic big-wave surfers on the planet...the set waves were:50-60 feet on the face, the largest ever for paddle-in surf contest...Bertish wound up having the day of his life....describing it as ‘scary beautiful.’”
“There’s more to Chris in this story than just his burning desire to take on some of the biggest challenges in surfing and the world. Whatever his endeavor, he does not put himself at the center of it. He doesn’t see himself as a giant killer, but just an ordinary guy. He believes his means for achieving the remarkable is not special to him, but in a self-belief that lies dormant in all of us.”
Chris Bertish was winner of the Mavericks 2010, during the biggest waves in surfing competition history. in 2017, he became the world's first person to stand-up paddle, solo and unassisted across the Atlantic Ocean, raising support for charities and continuing to redefine possible.
